MURCIA. Meat pie cooked Juan Carlos Hernandez Garcia from Patisserie Maite de Murcia was winner of the III regional competition of meat pies, which took place today at the Regional Center for Crafts. The winner received the highest score from the jury and received the title “Best Meatloaf 2022” as well as a trophy and a plaque for your establishment.
Sonia Moreno, General Manager of Consumption and Craftsemphasized “the quality of the preparation and the high level of the pastry masters who took part in this competition, the purpose of which is to promote this Murcian gastronomic product and to promote its excellence.”
The organizer of the competition is Regional Association of Confectioners of Murcia (Arepa)in cooperation with the General Directorate of Consumption and Crafts of the Ministry of Business, Employment, Universities and the official representative.
Total was ten participants from Murcia, Caravaca de la Cruz and Bullaswho are included in the Register of Artisans of the Region of Murcia, are engaged in the trade of confectionery and are actively working.
The jury consisted of qualified guild specialists who judged the cakes at today’s tasting.
The meat pie is a benchmark of the region’s gastronomy, prepared according to a recipe that dates back to the end of the 17th century, when regulations were passed to regulate production standards.
